Music only exist in time and memory

Plasticity of Sound is a creative research explores the emancipation of music from linear duration, seeking an alternative mode of sonic perception. The project investigates the possibility of perceiving music as a **plastic medium**. I create site-specific sculptural environments in which multiple audio sources play small fragments of a whole music composition. Similar to the way we approach a sculpture, visitors move through the space at their own speed, forward, backward, or even stop at any section for sustained listening. In this configuration, sound (music) is always present and the listener assumes an active temporal role, becoming time itself in the composition.

This is a large-scale project that requires several years of research. For this reason, I approach it through smaller fragments of the overall concept, allowing space to experiment, learn, present partial outcomes, and further develop the work. The research unfolds through a series of creative exercises in which I test the elements I consider essential. These include visual, acoustic, and musical components that together shape a fully immersive experience.
At the same time, I am strongly interested in exploring how far this project can reach in terms of social engagement. A central motivation in my artistic practice is to create situations in which people can reflect on their relationship with themselves and with those close to them. I aim to develop sound-based works that encourage meaningful engagement, both at the level of the individual and within communities.

I am currently searching for support to perform a full research on the project, there is much to develop in its musical, visual, acoustic, perceptive, and emotional possibilities.

Sculptural space
This is the concept of creating the space needed for playing 'plastic' compositions. With every presentation the space needs to be adapted, and in order not to stop experimenting, prototypes of the space have been built in different dimensions. In addition to physical exhibitions, I have created a virtual reality and a digital platform that enables me to test the composition without the need of assembling the full setup. In addition to the musical aspect, experimentation on materials, acoustics, and perception are still to explore.
